Happy 1 year Anniversary Vine
I remember so clearly, a little over a year ago, we were sitting around a table, envisioning this company. It was a blank page in front of us, but we had a big dream in our hearts. I wanted to connect with people and provide good service for people that need it. It was a dream to work with great people and give them an opportunity to create a work life balance that worked for them. We had the vision, but we needed a name. We racked our brains for hours, days, and even weeks. When the word Vine came up, we knew it was perfect as the name has a lot of meaning for us and represents so much of what we wanted for our company.
Green for holistic
I love the word holistic. In the wake of recovering from chronic Lyme disease, living holistically has become part of my core.
Webster defines holistic as “relating to or concerned with wholes or with complete systems rather than with the analysis of, treatment of, or dissection into parts”
Bookkeeping is a vital part of any business, but if you only look at this one part, then you are missing the big picture. We want to look at the whole business so that we can provide more insight to the business owner. This could be seeing something in the numbers that they don’t see, providing recommendations for improving processes so that they can work more efficiently, helping with tax planning, or educating the business owner so they are able to understand and feel more empowered.
I am definitely not known for my gardening abilities, but I have been able to maintain beautiful green ivy growing in my house for years. They are hearty plants that provide so much beauty to their surroundings. They are always growing and reaching for more just as we are. I love growing and learning as a person and we bring that drive to our business and clients. We started with only two team members, but we are now up to 6 people and a growing client list to boot.
A vine, as beautiful as it is, it needs a support structure to reach its full potential. This is so impactful for our business. A solid bookkeeping process and financial foundation is so critical in business. This is the message that we hope to bring to all small business owners.
Two become One
It was Nathan who mentioned the term grafting. Grafting is a process by which two grape vine plants are combined to create an improved single vine with new desired attributes. This analogy sealed the deal for me. This is exactly what we want with our clients. We want to be incorporated into our clients’ business. We make them stronger and they make us stronger.
This year has been challenging and we have had our fair shares of ups–and–downs and faced many obstacles. However, our name and vision have always been at the core our business. Reflecting on this year, I realize that we have come so far.
We are so excited our vision is becoming a reality. We were recognized as one of three finalists for the Celia Bell Entrepreneur Award in the startup category. What an honor. The SCORE organization has been a huge support to me and our business this year and I can honestly say that I would never have made it through if it hadn’t been for the support of my mentor Chris Harrison and SCORE. If you are a small business, then you need to check them out.
Thank you to who has supported us in our journey.
