What are holistic business consultants?

In recent years, the term “holistic” has become increasingly more popular. The definition, in regards to health, is “characterized by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the physical symptoms of a disease.” I love this interpretation – focusing on the whole body and valuing preventative measures in addition to traditional, reactionary prescriptions.

Now what would a holistic approach to business look like? Just as a holistic doctor treats the whole person, a holistic business consultant looks at the entire business. Like the doctor, a holistic business consultant takes preventative measures, by making sure that processes are in place to ensure your financials accurately reflects operations and fraud is prevented. A holistic business consultant examines a business owner’s goals, both personally and professionally.

Holistic business consultant are not just entering data or preparing a tax return; these are reactionary prescriptions. Like a traditional doctor, your tax accountant may give you some advice and monitor your progress in annual “check-ups”. Some bookkeepers only provide reports, without any feedback at all.

At Vine, we are a part of your team. We are proactively improving your business; helping you to make better decisions through information. Depending on your needs, there may be enormous opportunity to add value in the gray area between your bookkeeper and tax accountant.

Here are some examples of what we can provide as a holistic business consultant:

Is your business growing and you cannot keep up? You’re not alone. Many businesses are in this exact scenario. Some owners have difficulty realizing when they have outgrown the “bootstraps” stage. You can relax, knowing that you have an experienced CFO, helping to build your growing company.

Are you worried about fraud or have you observed suspicious activity? We can perform fraud investigation and establish preventative controls to thwart fraudulent activity in the future.

Have you recently outsourced a part of your business and want to take control back? Some clients spend countless hours finding the right management company, only to wish they had not given up so much control over their day-to-day operations. You must still maintain a level of control to ensure that your outsourced partner is performing their duties.

Does your business have complex transactions and need expert advice, but can’t afford a full-time CFO? Whether your company is big or small, we can help. We can offer the same services of a full-time CFO, but for a fraction of the cost. We work within your budget and can establish a plan that works for you.
